Pacific Rim Cup 2025 features Shandon Hopeau as a special coach again!

June 17, 2025

We’re honored to announce that Shandon Hopeau - Hawaii native and former Seattle Sounders FC pro - will be joining us as a Special Coach for the Pacific Rim Cup 2025 Powered by MIXI, Inc. Keiki Soccer Clinic.

Shandon’s journey from the fields of Kapolei to Major League Soccer is a powerful example of dedication and homegrown talent. After starring for Hawaii Rush and Kapolei High School — where he was named OIA West Player of the Year in both 2015 and 2016 — Shandon was invited to the prestigious Real Madrid Select Camp in 2014, as one of just 36 top youth players from around the world.

In 2016, following Seattle Sounders FC’s designation of Hawaii as part of their homegrown territory, Shandon joined the Sounders Academy, quickly becoming the academy’s leading scorer and a standout presence on the field.

In 2017, Shandon made history as the first Hawaii-born Sounders Academy player to sign a professional contract, joining Seattle Sounders FC 2 (USL) ahead of the season opener. His rise continued when he signed with the Sounders’ first team in 2020 and later played on loan with San Antonio FC during the 2021 season.

Shandon will join Takuya Yamada and Tsubasa Endoh as part of our all-star team of Special Coaches!
