In February 2023, Blue United Corporation and Deloitte Tohmatsu Consulting LLC proudly agreed to launch a joint “Sports Business Laboratory” to research, study, and conduct proof-of-concept demonstrations aimed at expanding the sports business in Japan (for more details, click here).

 

One of our Sports Business Laboratory activities took place at the Pacific Rim Cup - Keiki Soccer Clinic 2023, we took on the challenge of realizing the social value of the clinic and standardizing sports event operations. Specifically, we analyzed the social impact using SROI (Social Return on Investment) and successfully achieved an SROI of 1.36 times the initial estimate, exceeding our expectations (for more details, click here).

 

At this year's Pacific Rim Cup 2024, we will again use SROI to assess the social impact of the Keiki Soccer Clinic and Keiki Soccer Tournament. By analyzing the Pacific Rim Cup in this way each year, we aim to refine our logic model for SROI calculation and work towards constructing more precise analysis methods. Additionally, we will examine the long-term social value generated by the Pacific Rim Cup.

 

Through these Sports Business Laboratory studies, we aim to drive further growth in the Japanese sports business, ensuring benefits are accurately conferred to sports teams, leagues, and associated organizations. Our goal is to promote the growth of the entire industry and initiate value co-creation with other sectors.

 

By utilizing our unique consulting methods and perspectives, we will ascertain the social value of the Pacific Rim Cup 2024, to enhance our SROI analysis methods while also examining ways to increase the impact of our work. We are committed to broadening our efforts to other case studies within Japan.
