Honolulu - Aloha everyone! We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of you. On August 5, 2023, Blue United Corporation hosted the Pacific Rim Cup Keiki Soccer Clinic 2023 at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex. As in the past three tournaments, we are thrilled to announce that for the fourth tournament, this year's event was a resounding success with more than 300 keiki participants.

 

Blue United Corporation previously organized the international soccer tournament Pacific Rim Cup in Honolulu in 2018 and 2019. The inaugural 2018 tournament featured professional teams Vancouver Whitecaps and Columbus Crew SC from North America, and Consadole Sapporo and Iwaki FC from Japan. In 2019, Real Salt Lake and Vancouver Whitecaps from North America, and V-Varen Nagasaki and Iwaki FC from Japan competed in the tournament.

 

Due to the global pandemic in 2020, the professional games took a brief pause. However, in 2022, we revived the highly popular Keiki Soccer Clinic tailored for children, which attracted an overwhelming response of nearly 700 applications in just 48 hours.

 

This year, as we continue to work on bringing back the professional games, we decided to strengthen our bond with Hawaii's vibrant soccer community and the eagerly awaiting children by hosting the soccer clinic again following the success of last year.

 

Preparations for this clinic began five months prior with the establishment of the organizing committee. Members from across the globe including New York, Hawaii, Argentina, and Japan, collaborated through meetings and discussions to ensure a seamless execution. Overcoming time zones, language barriers, and cultural differences, we managed to sell out all 300 available tickets.

 

This year's special coaches included former Japan national team soccer players Mr. Takuya Yamada, Mr. Hideo Hashimoto, and Ms. Ayumi Kaihori, along with Mr. Kenji Treschuk, a former professional soccer player hailing from Hawaii. Under the guidance of these experienced coaches who played worldwide, the 300 children left the clinic feeling inspired.

 

The participants not only received exclusive T-shirts and postcards as participation benefits but also had the chance to receive autographs and take photos with the special coaches, creating invaluable opportunities for international interaction.

 

Furthermore, in collaboration with Deloitte Tohmatsu Consulting LLC, a research project was conducted to highlight the social value of sports, aiming to substantiate our unique values.

 

Recognizing Hawaii's strong community values, we believe that understanding the relationship between sports events and the community will bring new perspectives. Therefore, we kindly requested feedback from the parents of participants and volunteer staff through surveys. We will share detailed reports of this event in due course.
